GUELPH, ON — Blue Planet Geomatics is proud to highlight a significant milestone for GPS Source, one of our key manufacturing partners: the U.S. Army’s Project Manager, Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PM PNT) has awarded GPS Source a three-year, $17 million contract for the prototyping, demonstration, and testing of the NorthStar PNT Hub — a next-generation Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) system for Army vehicle platforms.
The contract was executed through an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) with CMG Networks on behalf of the Consortium for Command, Control, and Communications in Cyberspace (C5).
This award validates what we’ve long known about GPS Source’s engineering: their solutions are purpose-built for environments where GNSS alone isn’t enough.
A Modular APNT Architecture Designed for the Realities of Contested Operations
The NorthStar PNT Hub is a modular APNT system engineered for resilient navigation in GPS-contested and GPS-denied environments. Designed as a drop-in replacement for existing Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR) units, it integrates rapidly into current Army vehicle fleets without major platform modifications.
Key capabilities include:
- Industry-standard interfaces and a scalable architecture supporting a wide range of antennas, RF sources, and independent sensors
- Multi-source PNT fusion with advanced spoofing detection and signal integrity monitoring
- User-level maintenance and straightforward configuration across capability tiers
- An upgrade path that keeps pace with evolving operational requirements — without costly platform redesigns
By fusing multiple PNT inputs and applying sophisticated integrity detection techniques, the NorthStar PNT Hub delivers the kind of assured, trustworthy positioning that Multi-Domain Operations demand.
What This Means for Defense Customers
At Blue Planet Geomatics, we support defense and aerospace customers across Canada and the U.S. who face exactly these challenges — operating in environments where GPS signals can’t be taken for granted. The NorthStar program reflects the direction the broader defense PNT market is heading: away from single-source GNSS dependency, toward layered, resilient, and field-maintainable solutions.
GPS Source’s full line of GNSS networking and distribution products is available through Blue Planet Geomatics. If you’re evaluating APNT solutions for vehicle platforms, ground systems, or integrated defense applications, we’d welcome the conversation.
